Looking
for something fun to do on a Wednesday night?
Come and listen to the band play during our open rehearsal the 1st Wednesday
of the month from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at the Carrboro Arts Center. Admission is
free and there is even room for dancing if the mood strikes you. We promise
there won't be too much starting and stopping and endless tuning of instruments
so you will be able to enjoy the music.
The Triangle Jazz Orchestra is a big band composed of enthusiastic
musicians from across the Triangle Area of North Carolina. We perform the great
American music of the jazz masters of the Swing Era, including Glenn Miller,
Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington, as well as more
recent jazz and blues tunes. Our 17 musicians play in
the traditional big band format with a full horn section for rich harmonies and
a complete rhythm section for a driving, danceable beat.
We are available to play for concerts or swing dances anywhere in the RTP and
surrounding areas. The band was organized in September 2003, and rehearses Wednesday
evenings at The Arts Center in Carrboro, NC.
